The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development encourages countries to conduct Voluntary National Reviews (VNR), which reflect on the successes and challenges countries face when implementing the Agenda 2030.

In Belgium, the body responsible for compiling the countries VNR is the Interministerial Conference on Sustainable Development (IMCSD). Before Belgium submitted its second VNR in 2023, the IMCSD tasked advisory councils such as FRDO-CFDD and Minaraad to prepare an opinion on the draft text.
